Franchising

Franchising is a business relationship where the owner of a business providing goods or services (the franchisor) grants a right to another person (the franchisee) to market and distribute the franchisor's goods or services in the marketplace.

The relationship between those two parties is usually covered by a franchise agreement.

The franchise sector in Australia is vibrant. There are almost 70,000 franchised businesses in Australia with a sales turnover estimated at $128billion.

The legal framework for franchising is complex. Bywaters Timms are business and commercial lawyers with an exceptional record which spans decades in providing advice on franchise law to both franchisors and franchisees. The firm's reputation is based on a proven depth of experience and expertise. Our lawyers see beyond legal issues, providing practical, coordinated and “results driven” commercial solutions. We take time to understand our clients’ business and issues and to develop close, long term relationships.

My problems were largely solved 1 hour and 10 minutes after my appointment with Janice began. To this day it continues to impress me. From a whirlpool of confusion and doubt over my situation, I was able at last, after months of internal dilemma, to see a light at the end of what previously looked like a very long, dark tunnel. Janice was able to dissect in a very deliberate and productive way what needed to happen next. She gave the mess clarity. Step by step with her calm and expertise I was able to take control again. With her knowledge and experience I felt confident to act on her advice. I had strength and direction on my side which was a necessary tool in the face of the unknown and when the process can be a pretty scary one, who doesn't need that? A very heartfelt thank you to...
